The Advisory Board counsels the Board of Directors on economic and legal issues, as well as in questions of strategic development and public relations activities. It has full insight into the activities of the BoD and ensures compliance with the societies statute (transparency order). It supports the association with its network of representatives from companies, organizations, the media and politics.

A congenital vascular malformation, known as Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome, was the trigger for founding and promoting the society. His desire is to help those affected by vascular anomalies. Among other things, this should be done, by adding the experience of specialists working in the field of treatment of vascular anomalies into a knowledge database. By resorting to the database, mistreatment by physicians unfamiliar with this highly specialized subject can be avoided.

As an affected person myself, the goals of the German Interdisciplinary Society for Vascular Anomalies are a matter dear to my heart. (Werner J. Siebert)
